The elite men’s torball team participated in the international tournament in Bergamo, Italy.
Bernard Berger, Cédric Bouchet, Gilles Brand, and Sébastien Filippini were coached by the young Thibaut Filippini.
This tournament is played in two groups of 6 teams, the top 3 from each group meet and play the qualifying matches.
Initially, things got off to a bad start, that’s the problem with old diesel engines… they take a while to start!
But after the defeat against Innsbruck 2 to 5, the eaglets followed with 6 wins and 2 draws:
Nice 4 – Bergamo B 2
Nice 5 – Bolzano 3
Nice 3 – Bologna 1
Nice 4 – Naples 3
Nice 4 – Landshut 1
Nice 3 – Bergamo A 3
Nice 2 – Turin 2
The eaglets earned their place to play the semi-final against the Tyrol team and a bitter defeat awaited the players from Nice, 1 to 4.
But there was no time to dwell on their fate, the players from Nice played the consolation final for the third place, and as they didn’t come to Italy for nothing, they regained their fighting spirit and secured their place on the podium by winning the consolation final match against Bergamo A 6 to 3!
With 34 goals scored, here are the scorers for ANICES:
13 goals by Sébastien
12 goals by Cédric
9 goals by Gilles.
A promising success before the 9th International Men’s Torball Tournament in Nice, which will take place on Saturday, April 14!
