On June 28 and 29, the ANICES parasport team stood out during the D1 Showdown French Championship in Poitiers. Despite disrupted journeys, the team from Nice achieved solid results.
Departing on Friday, June 27 from Nice, Jérémy, Laurie-Anne, and Bernard experienced a challenging trip to Poitiers. Their journey was marked by breakdowns, bomb alerts, and missed connections. Once there, they reunited with Yohann, who came from Toulouse, and Insoim, the competition’s referee.
On the tables, the results were promising. Laurie-Anne won all her group matches. She fell in the semi-final against Elvina, a European reference, before securing third place in the women’s ranking.
In the men’s category, Jérémy also finished at the top of his group. In the quarterfinals, he faced his teammate Yohann, whom he defeated before making it to the final. However, due to transport constraints, he couldn’t play the final match. He thus retains his title as Vice-Champion of France.
Bernard, another member of ANICES, finished second in his group. He takes the sixth place in the general ranking. Yohann ranks tenth and ensures his stay in D1.
After the competition, the team faced another setback: a delayed train that forced them to rush from one station to another to return to Nice.
Despite these challenges, the four players leave with encouraging results and memorable experiences.
The rest of their season will take place on Saturday, July 5 in Castel-Sarrazin, at the French Cup for both women and men Torball event.
