Torball: two bronze medals at the European Cup following a season finale marked by the Showdown

The Nice Torball club finished the season with two high-level competitions. In Showdown, Jérémy took 6th place in the French Division 1 championship in Poitiers. In Switzerland, the women’s and men’s teams won two bronze medals at the STBV World Masters.

The 2025-2026 season ended with two major events for the Nice Torball. The first concerned the French Showdown Division 1 Championship in Poitiers. The second took the women’s and men’s teams to Switzerland for the STBV World Masters, a European Cup organized on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Swiss national team.

In Poitiers, the best French Showdown specialists met for two days. Several players were among the world leaders in the discipline. Nice was represented by Jérémy and Bernard, while Insoim served as referee.

Jérémy started the competition with a loss to Nicolas Royer before winning two consecutive matches against Yohann Milaret and then Madgid Guitoune. Qualified for the quarter-finals, the Nice player then lost to Pierre Bertrand. A victory over Denis Calonne was followed by a final match lost to Florent Schmitt.

This performance allowed Jérémy to finish in 6th place in the French championship. A performance that confirms another presence among the best French players after a season played at the highest national level.

Bernard, for his part, started with a victory over Ange Arrighi before facing several opponents among France’s leading players, including Théo Lecoiffier, Franck Bouilloux and Didier Berthiau. A victory obtained against Mathias Blanc came to reward the Nice player’s efforts. The competition ended with a loss to Yohann Milaret.

The final ranking places Bernard in 14th place. This result leads to relegation to Division 2 after several seasons spent in the national elite.

Two Nice teams on the European podium

To conclude the season, the women’s and men’s teams participated in the STBV World Masters in Switzerland. This European competition brought together several teams among the most competitive on the continent.

The men’s team, composed of Bernard, Cédric, Mika and Sébastien, had a solid first phase with four wins and a draw. Victories over Munich, Glarus, Amriswil and Bolzano, as well as a draw against Hasselt, allowed Nice to finish at the top of their group.

The second day continued with a victory over Basel and then a success against the Swiss national team, despite a narrow loss to Mons. Qualified for the semi-finals, the Nice team was eliminated on penalties after a 0-0 draw against the Swiss national team.

For the women, Clarisse and Sandrine were accompanied by Maïté. The Nice players won four matches, shared points with Heidiland and conceded only one defeat during the group stage against Dortmund. A victory over Glarus launched the second day before a loss to Südtirol.

In the semi-final, Nice maintained an advantage against Glarus for a long time before being caught up in the final minutes. Qualification was also decided on penalties, with elimination by a score of 3-2.

The two Nice teams finally left Switzerland with a bronze medal. The Swiss teams that had eliminated Nice in the semi-finals went on to win both finals. A conclusion that rewards a season marked by solid results on the national and European stages.
