The urban landscape of the city is increasingly seeing the installation of works of art, particularly contemporary ones, that establish a revitalized presence.

This can provoke reactions of approval or annoyance, depending on individual tastes… and sometimes the personal interests of individuals who, in the name of neighborhood associations, assume the representation of citizens.

Let’s not say more because the argument is not worth going further…

At the end of this week, it is the Commandant Gérôme Square, at the Cimiez neighborhood intersection, that received this enhancement (at least according to the intentions of the promoters, headed by Robert Roux, municipal councilor).

It is the sculpture named “Totor” by the artist Stéphane Bolongaro, already exhibited on the Promenade des Anglais during the beautiful season, “Totor” which has been installed permanently.

This choice is part of the partnership between the cities of Nice and Miami, with a second “Totor” soon to be installed in front of the Miami City Hall.

Among the latest monumental works installed, the “Nine Oblique Lines” by Bernar Venet (United States Quay), the statue of General de Gaulle by Jean Cardot (General de Gaulle Square), the bronze after Michelangelo’s David (Paillon Promenade), “The Three Worlds” by Noël Dolla (Max Barel Square), or “The Art That Goes Around in Circles…” by Ben (Toselli Square).
