Tourism: A promising summer ahead!

Latest News

After a winter season on the rise and a pause in April, the trend appears positive once again for tourism on the Cรดte d’Azur.

For the upcoming months, the evolution of hotel booking rates confirms the recovery of the hotel market. The rates are increasing for each month from June to October. This allows for anticipation of a slight rise in summer hotel occupancy.

Regarding accommodation bookings for July, 68% of relevant professionals consider the level to be good to very good, compared to 57% last year.

These favorable prospects confirm our increasing booking rates for the summer.

Since the beginning of the year, it is particularly the national demand that supports the hotel activity on the Cรดte d’Azur. Stays by the French in hotels and tourist residences have increased by 7% from January to April compared to 2014.

This trend should continue. Indeed, the vacation intentions of the French are up by 5 points for the summer, according to the IPSOS-Europe Assistance Barometer. And for the French, as well as other Europeans, the preferred destinations will primarily be the coast, still the majority, and the mountains, which are also on the rise.

In addition to this French attendance, there will be a strong presence of foreign tourists with a significant increase in Asians, notably Chinese (+42%), and Middle Eastern tourists (+14%), thereby offsetting the continued decline of Russian visitors in the summer (-16%).

Moreover, there is already a strong growth in stays from the United States (+12%), Canada, Switzerland and Spain (+14%), Italy (+16%), and Asia excluding Japan (+18%).
