France could attract up to 89 million foreign tourists in 2017 and achieve 50 billion euros in international tourism revenue by 2020.
Being able to welcome 100 million foreign visitors by this date will require efforts. It involves “investing in hospitality, hotels, and infrastructure,” according to Jean-Yves Le Drian.
The goal should be to create 300,000 additional jobs across the entire nation. The minister proposes a policy of “major projects that could be launched by identifying a structuring project in each region” with financial support from the government, citing “the rehabilitation and creation of accommodations in mountain and coastal areas.”
In the meantime, “France could reach 88 to 89 million tourists in 2017, an increase of 5 to 6% compared to 2016,” the minister announced. “During the first half of the year, we returned to a level of attendance similar to 2015.”
