Tourism: Where Did the People of Nice Go This Summer 2025?

Latest News

Autumn is here, but this summer the people of Nice traveled, choosing both nearby and distant destinations. Paris, Tunis, and Lisbon lead the searches, but Bangkok and Barcelona show significant price drops.

Summer is over. It’s an opportunity to look at where the inhabitants of Nice flew to and at what prices. The data collected by Liligo confirms a trend already observed in the spring: travelers prefer accessible trips. More than one in two French people planned to travel, but domestic destinations remained the majority.

From Nice Cรดte dโ€™Azur Airport, Paris is the most searched-for city for the summer season of 2025. The average round-trip airfare to the capital was 151 euros. This is an increase of 9% compared to 2024, and 8% compared to 2023. This increase has not deterred the attraction to the French capital.

Just behind, Tunis takes second place. The people of Nice flew there for an average fare of 314 euros, up 9% over one year and 10% over two years. The Tunisian capital thus confirms its role as a Mediterranean getaway.

Lisbon completes the top three with an average price of 256 euros. The increase is limited to 3% compared to the previous year, but it reaches 17% over two years. The Portuguese capital remains a safe bet, appreciated for the proximity and cultural diversity it offers.

Significant increase for Rome, decrease for Bangkok and Montreal

Other cities stand out for significant price changes. Rome has the largest price increase. The average ticket is 133 euros, which is 36% more than in 2024. Over two years, the increase is moderate at 3%. The Italian destination retains its appeal despite this rise.

Conversely, Bangkok records a significant decrease. The ticket price decreases by 7% in 2024 and by 17% in 2023. In 2025, a round-trip costs 947 euros. The Thai capital remains an expensive destination, but the pricing trend may encourage some travelers to take the plunge.

Montreal follows a similar path. The average fare drops by 2% compared to 2024 and by 10% over two years. The people of Nice could travel there this summer for 696 euros. This decline, in a context where long-distance destinations remain often expensive, may have attracted some travelers.

Dubai, on the other hand, sees its prices rise significantly. The average ticket reaches 646 euros, which is 21% more than in 2024. The increase over two years is limited to 5%, but the trend shows an upward movement for the Emirati city.

Diverse destinations between Europe, Africa, and America

The study reveals a balance between nearby and distant destinations. The people of Nice choose Paris, Rome, Porto, or Lisbon as much as Tunis, Marrakech, Dubai, or Montreal.

Marrakech shows an average price of 264 euros. The increase is 20% compared to 2024, but there is stability over two years (-1%). Barcelona shows the opposite trend: 108 euros on average, with a decrease of 14% over two years, despite a 20% increase compared to 2024.

Porto, finally, offers stable rates. The average price is 262 euros, with a 2% decrease compared to 2024 and a 5% increase over two years. A city that remains accessible and attractive for short stays.

Traveling more, but not necessarily farther

The results of the summer of 2025 illustrate a pragmatic choice. The people of Nice have traveled more, but without necessarily seeking to go further. European and Mediterranean capitals account for a significant portion of departures. More distant destinations, such as Bangkok or Montreal, retain a place but are more subject to price changes.

According to the study, 61% of French people planned to go on vacation, which is one point more than last year. For two-thirds of them, France remained the priority choice. In Nice, the presence of Paris at the top of the ranking confirms this trend.

The data also show the importance of price changes in travelersโ€™ decisions. Significant increases have not discouraged trips to Rome or Dubai, while notable decreases in Bangkok or Montreal could indicate a renewed interest in the future.

In the end, the summer of 2025 was marked by a balance between proximity and openness. The people of Nice confirmed their taste for European capitals while retaining an interest in North America, North Africa, and Asia. Ticket prices continue to influence choices, but the desire to travel remains strong.
