This Saturday morning, the Mayor of Nice and President of the Metropolis, accompanied by Prefect Leclerc and many local elected officials, participated in the celebration organized for the launch of the new tram section.
The meeting was held at the CADAM station, near the new maintenance center and park-and-ride facility. It was here that the brand-new tram car for line 2 embarked on a ceremonial journey. Christian Estrosi welcomed a dozen citizens from Nice at the Paul Montel and Carras stations and invited them to join the tram.
This tram, featuring innovative technology that allows the car to recharge in 20 seconds, then headed to its temporary terminus: the Magnan station. The 7-kilometer journey was followed live by hundreds of locals waiting at the final stop.
Christian Estrosi addressed the citizens at Magnan, officially opening the CADAM-Magnan section. Throughout the summer, users will benefit from this route free of charge.
Eventually, this line will connect to the port via the Magnan to Jean Medecin tunnel. Scheduled for September 2019, Nice’s tram line 2 will serve 20 stations, including 4 underground ones.
