Designed like a film, Transfigured mixes music and visual projections, offering a unique dive into the world of this Austrian composer.
Arnold Schönberg, a pioneer of the 20th century, made history with his aesthetic audacity and musical innovations. A theoretician of dodecaphony, he was also a painter and a poet of sound. Forced to leave Europe under the Nazi regime, he left a lasting impact despite the controversies sparked by his works.
With Transfigured, Bertrand Bonello stages Schönberg’s complexity and sensitivity. Music, films, and texts interact to trace his artistic and personal journey. The objective? To make his aesthetics accessible while questioning his legacy in modernity. The Philharmonic Orchestra of Nice and the Opera Choir accompany this auditory and visual journey.
Under the musical direction of Johanna Malangré, artists such as David Kadouch, Sarah Aristidou, Julia Faure, and Adrien Dantou lend their talent to this hybrid work.
