The project to provide public transport service to the Paillon Valley is a priority. It is simply a matter of breaking the isolation of the route that leads from Nice to Tende and serves the municipalities (La Trinité, Drap, Cantaron) surrounding the capital and connects the Ariane district.
Furthermore, consideration could be given to creating a new stop near the Pasteur-Gendarmerie district.
To achieve this, train schedules need to be planned to reach three to four trains per hour (at least during peak hours).
To succeed, investment is needed in the modification of the existing level crossings as well as in a crossing track that would allow trains to run at higher speeds.
Initiated by Deputy Rudy Salles, the Region, responsible for this task, is ready to move forward with the project; feasibility studies have been commissioned, and a special meeting is scheduled shortly with local officials.
The Vice President, in charge of transportation and mobility, has expressed support.
In the long term, the TER could become an RER within the Metropolitan area.
After so many years and futile discussions, will this project finally come to a conclusion? This time, it seems like it’s the real deal!
