Nice has a special history with Russia. In the second half of the 19th century, the city welcomed many Russians. This is why the Russian Orthodox Church was built. More than a century and a half later, the ties between the azure city and Russia endure. In fact, the Russian railway company RDZ has undertaken an ambitious project. Starting from September 23, 2010, a train will connect Moscow and Nice. This journey of nearly 50 hours will be operated once a week. From Moscow to Nice, it will pass through Minsk (Belarus), Warsaw (Poland), the Czech Republic, Vienna (Austria), the Brenner (between Austria and Italy), Milan, Genoa (Italy), Menton before arriving in Nice. Travelers will have the option to choose the luxury class which features a large bed in a compartment equipped with a shower, a toilet, and a bar. If you opt for this option, you’ll need to pay 1,200 euros. The other less expensive alternative is to travel in second class. It will include one or two beds per compartment and a shower at the end of the car. The ticket will then cost you 306 euros. You can now go to the SNCF to book your ticket. By the end of the year, travelers will have the option to purchase their tickets online.
