The General Council and Prefecture agents gathered yesterday for a few minutes of reflection to honor the memory of the victims of the attack, initiated by the President of the General Council Eric Ciotti and the Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes Adolphe Colrat.
A large presence, including several elected officials, accompanied by posters in solidarity with the deceased journalists: “Je suis Charlie”. The emotion was palpable, as the memory of the events was still vivid and ingrained in people’s minds.
Eric Ciotti briefly spoke to condemn the acts and called for a “Reunion around the Nation.” “When the victims are journalists and police officers, it’s freedom of expression and security that are under attack, two symbols of the State and republican values.”
Later, while answering journalists’ questions, he solemnly stated that France “is at war against barbarism and that this war must be fought and won.”
Prefect Adolphe Colrat, who had already expressed his position the day before yesterday during the demonstration organized by the Nice Town Hall at Garibaldi Square, joined in the words of the President of the General Council.
In a press briefing, he confirmed that security measures around sensitive areas have been reinforced, while also stating that the Alpes-Maritimes has not been placed under the Vigipirate plan.
The general message is clear: heightened vigilance but no panic, and above all, full confidence in the security and intelligence forces.
