Resistant, communist, artillery lieutenant in 1940, Max BAREL was arrested by the Gestapo on July 6, 1944, on the platforms of the Lyon-Perrache station.
Imprisoned and tortured for 4 days and 5 nights by executioners under the orders of Klaus Barbie, Max did not speak. He kept the names of his comrades in arms secret until his death.
A commemoration in memory of Max BAREL and all the victims of Nazi barbarism will take place on Wednesday, July 11 at 6 PM, at Place Max BAREL in Nice.
