On June 3, 2016, boxing lost its most loyal and famous representative. Six years to the day after the death of Muhammad Ali, the National Sports Museum is paying tribute to him.
This Friday, June 3, the National Sports Museum is organizing a special evening in honor of the American boxing legend, Muhammad Ali. Starting at 6:00 PM, the evening will kick off with the unveiling of the temporary exhibition “The Call of the Ring.” Available until January 3, 2023, it is divided into six sections (like so many rounds) and aims to introduce visitors to boxing and its history through unique objects, immersive and interactive installations.
This special evening will continue at 7:00 PM with the screening of the Oscar-winning documentary “When We Were Kings” (2016) by Leon Gast, about the legendary 1974 fight between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman.
Finally, at 8:30 PM, the tribute will conclude with a discussion led by Claude Boli, the scientific director of the National Sports Museum and author of the book “Muhammad Ali.” He will reflect on the life of the man who floated like a butterfly and stung like a bee.
