For the start of the school year, a vibrant tribute to Samuel Paty took place in various schools across the country yesterday morning at 11 a.m.
This Monday morning, Charles Ange Ginรฉsy, President of the Alpes-Maritimes Department, participated in the tribute to Samuel Paty by the students and teaching staff of Henri Matisse Middle School in Nice, in the presence of Mickael Cabbeke, Academy Inspector, Deputy Academic Director, Cรฉdric Roussel, Alpes-Maritimes Deputy, and Gaรซlle Frontoni, Principal of Henri Matisse Middle School.
As part of the tribute to Samuel Paty organized by the school, the middle school students read a text by Jean Jaurรจs, and then everyone present observed a minute of silence.
This tribute takes on an even stronger tone here in Nice, at Matisse Middle School, not far from the Promenade des Anglais where, on July 14, 2016, 86 angels lost their lives, and not far from the Notre-Dame Basilica where, last Thursday, a new heinous knife attack caused the death of three people.
For Charles Ange Ginรฉsy: โThe Departmental Council, responsible for middle schools, is particularly attentive to ensuring that these establishments remain sanctuaries where everyone can thrive freely and safely. The recent tragic events have intensified our determination to act, following up on measures initiated several years ago such as the Young Citizens 06 Plan, launched at the end of 2015, and the School Security Plan, launched in the summer of 2016 in response to the terrorist threat, which has strengthened school security by improving access controls, fencing, and by developing video surveillance and alarm and alert systems.โ
