As President of SDIS06, Charles-Ange Ginésy participated in the traditional Saint Barbara’s Day celebration.
“Rest assured that you have my full trust to ensure the safety of our fellow citizens in the face of major risks and natural disasters,” was the message he conveyed on this occasion to Inspector General Dies, the officers, the 4,000 firefighters, and the 372 administrative and technical staff.
In his speech, the departmental President addressed the current situation: “This year we celebrate the traditional Saint Barbara’s Day in particularly painful circumstances,” particularly referring to the events that affected the populations of the Haute-Pays: “During Storm Alex, you carried out your mission with a humility that commands admiration. I want to give a heartfelt tribute to all the firefighters who gave their lives to save others.”
He also paid tribute to Sergeant Steeve Scaffa, Commander Kohlhuber, volunteer firefighter Loïc Millo on a mission by his side, both of whom died during the tragic night of October 2nd, and firefighters Thomas Da Silva and doctor-colonel Pierre Belleudy, both lost to illness.
