Trinidad: A Hurricane of Humor and Talent in Antibes

Latest News

During the “One Nana Show” by Annadrey last October, featured in these same columns, I discovered that this comedian writes her scripts with a certain Trinidad. For some time, I had been hearing a lot about her, people were telling me that she was a phenomenon, and I couldn’t put a face to the character.

Well, now I have; I saw her and even more at the Théâtre de la Scène-sur-Mer in Antibes where she took up residence, or rather, she came to “get her tune-up at the actors’ garage,” as she puts it herself.

Her vocal imitations are astonishing. In fact, she revisited her latest show “Can one be conceived in love and yet frown in public transport?” a title in the purest Trinidadian style that wreaks havoc among the listeners of France Inter (Monday to Friday from 11 am to 12:30 pm) who follow the show “Le Fou du Roi” by and with Stéphane Bern.

As she is a true hurricane of humor and talent, she took on television with her humor spot on the TNT channel Cap 24 (Tuesday at 7 pm) hosted by Patrice Carmouze. No doubt that one day Trinidad should at least appear on a comedy show on terrestrial TV.

With such a schedule, she did not have time to finish the show that was announced as “The Mirror,” which will be her seventh and which we will be able to discover during the Femin’Arte 2010 festival in Antibes. In my opinion, it’s already worth reserving your evening well in advance…

In the meantime, this woman does not hesitate to mock herself and her physique even though claiming to have 1m10 in leg height (each, of course) could make one dream of a famous model who has been an ambassador for the Red Cross for the past 10 years.

A UFO of humor
She quickly describes herself at the beginning of the show by talking about the first five minutes when no one listens. Not true with her, we are immediately captivated by this UFO of humor. One good play on words chases another immediately, and at such speed! There is no time to relax our zygomatic or abdominal muscles; everything remains tense.

You will thus discover a new concept, that of FM (not on the waves, we know that) but in life. This is the French Woman, who, according to Trinidad, discovered sex in the book “Sexuality according to Françoise Dolto.”

While women’s foibles are not hidden beneath feminism, men are not spared, especially those for whom the G-spot is that of the remote control and to whom talking about love is more akin to humanitarian action.

However, you will especially take immense and intense pleasure during this show even if some remarks or puns make you laugh grudgingly because they are precisely targeted.

Not so surprising when you learn that the artist holds a master’s degree in psychology. A degree that she will not directly apply because she will join the famous Petit Conservatoire de Mireille but to be an actress, not a singer.

Surprising when you hear her accurately spoof the tone of French songs from Bardot, Parillaud, the top with Jane Birkin. Not only do we find the different voices, but there are also the mannerisms, truly great art.

She is so generous with the audience that people rushed after the show to buy her book “The Chronicles of Trinidad” and/or the DVD of her show “The Conversion of the Stork” and get them signed.

These products, which you can only get on Trinidad’s site as normal sales are sold out, are the main funding source for her next show “The Mirror” for which she still needs €20,000.

Admit that it would be a shame that this comedian, impersonator, and columnist unlike any other, could not continue to showcase on stage the talent that we listen to on the radio or see on TNT. Go Trinidad!
