The Trinité Sport Football Club was honored during the inaugural “Football Foundation Awards,” unveiled on May 9, 2009, in Paris.
The club indeed won the First Prize in the “Health Initiation” category, which rewarded the best projects aimed at highlighting the principles to be respected in public health (nutrition, hygiene, injury prevention, and addictive behaviors) among young football licensees.
Titled “Health Prevention and Risky Behavior,” the initiative of the Trinité Sport Football Club captivated the jury of the Football Foundation Awards, composed of personalities and experts.
To minimize risks associated with sports, the club established a medical-sport center in 2002 with several associations in the city of La Trinité. This center allows for improved medical follow-up of licensees and has prompted broader reflection on the prevention of risky behaviors among youths. The club has thus developed a comprehensive awareness program in partnership with qualified professionals from the center (health mediators, psychologists, doctors specialized in sports medicine, etc.).
For its efforts, the Trinité Sport Football Club was awarded 10,000 euros. This best practice will also be specifically promoted by the Football Foundation to encourage its widespread adoption and inspire other amateur football clubs to replicate it.
The “Football Foundation Awards” operation aims to identify and promote good citizenship practices implemented by amateur football. In total, 14 clubs from across France were distinguished during this first edition, in four categories (Health Initiation, Refereeing-Sportsmanship, Civic Engagement, and Green Program).
The call for applications that identified the winning clubs was conducted in partnership with the Agency for Education Through Sport (APELS). 263 applications were received, 21 of which were in the “Health Initiation” category won by the Trinité Sport Football Club.
