Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, welcomed a delegation of Vietnamese dignitaries including Duong Chi Dung, Ambassador of Vietnam to France, and Dinh Toan Thang, Minister Counselor, to sign a twinning charter between the City of Nice and the City-Province of Can Tho, Vietnam.
At his side were Rudy Salles, Deputy Mayor for International Relations, Professor Albert Marouani, President of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis (UNS), Emmanuel Bouvier, Director General of the Nice University Hospital (CHU), Philippe Jourdan, Director of the Department of National Education, and Denis Zanon, Director of the Nice Tourism Office.
โTwo cities joining their futures โ this is an important moment. Two cities as distant as Nice and Can Tho choosing to share their potential is a sign that todayโs world is, above all, built on connection and exchange,โ said Christian Estrosi in his welcome speech.
This twinning agreement follows the decision by both cities to strengthen their relationship during the 8th Franco-Vietnamese Decentralized Cooperation Conference, held in Haiphong, Vietnam in November 2010.
This decentralized cooperation will focus on areas such as higher education, healthcare, and culture.
During their visit, the Vietnamese delegation met with leaders from the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, the Nice University Hospital, attended a performance at the Nice Opera House, and toured the Matisse Museum.
