There are the Olympic Games that draw the passion of athletes, and there are also the Paralympic Games which, although they may not have the same notoriety, are no less important. The list of athletes participating in the Sochi Winter Paralympics is now finalized. And here’s a good and beautiful piece of news for the Nice para-sport scene: After four Olympic athletes, two Paralympic athletes will defend France’s colors.
The Paralympic Selection Committee met last week to definitively approve the list of athletes who will represent France at the Sochi Winter Paralympics, from March 7th to 16th, 2014.
President Sébastien Filippini was quite proud to announce the selection of two athletes from the association who will make A.N.I.C.E.S.’s colors shine under the azure sky of Sochi.
The first athlete is snowboarder Patrice Baraterro, who has been striving for 10 years to reach this goal. All the work done, the repeated training sessions, the different competitions he has participated in, his efforts with amputees; today, he can proudly reap the fruits of his hard work.
The second athlete participating in the Sochi Winter Paralympics is Cécile Hernandez-Cervellon. Diagnosed with multiple sclerosis since 2002, this former European BMX athlete has since made a name for herself in parasnowboarding.
Double pride for the Nice para-sport scene and for the association ANICES, which is rising, rising, rising…
