Stรฉphanie Hoarau and Aurore Vincent are two former students of the UFR STAPS, now residing in Quebec. After finishing their studies, instead of jumping straight into the workforce, they had a wonderful idea: to travel abroad and participate in sports events as volunteers. To undertake such a journey, they prepared and considered all aspects. It took them two years to conceive the plan, gather the financial means, and get organized. Thanks to personal contributions, partnerships, and scholarships, they accumulated the necessary funds. Ultimately, they traveled across five continents, staying for 18 months and visiting 19 countries. Their goal was to gain knowledge in sports event organization and to discover other cultures and languages. With 4 T-shirts, 2 pairs of pants, and 4 pairs of underwear, they achieved their aim. Luck was on their side, as they occasionally found accommodation in locals’ homes in the countries where they stayed. Through their journey and active participation in events, they gained substantial experience in the field of event management. They represent a fine example of organization, tenacity in finding solutions, and pursuing dreams. Their experience is now shareable as they have also written a book, “The Sports Escape,” and travel the world giving informational conferences to students and sports communities. Invited by UFR STAPS at the initiative of its director and the Vice-Dean for International Relations, they presented their work to students and faculty of the sports department, perhaps inspiring some future vocations.
