To anticipate the easing of lockdown on May 11, the Alpes-Maritimes Department aimed to accelerate the deployment of soft mobility measures in its territory.

Thus, the departmental council, in collaboration with CASA and notably the communes of Antibes and Villeneuve-Loubet, has very quickly set up a double secured cycle lane over more than 4 km, between Fort Carrรฉ and Marina Baie des Anges, which was inaugurated yesterday*.

This coastal cycle path is particularly important because, in addition to its European tourist appeal, it supports many home-to-work journeys within the department. Changes to this setup will be possible in the very short term, in order to improve narrow areas. The trial of this new arrangement will be conducted until the end of June 2020, with a view to evaluating the results.

For Charles Ange Ginรฉsy, president of the departmental council: โ€œDeveloping soft mobility to promote intermodality and protect our environment are the priorities of our GREEN Deal policy. We will continue the developments and work to ensure the safety of cyclists and vehicles so that every user can enjoy our landscapes in complete serenity and with respect for our environment.โ€
