After the breath of fresh air of the first deconfinement weekend, 6th and 5th-grade students returned to class this Monday in the middle schools of departments less affected by the epidemic, still closely monitored due to fear of a second wave.
Despite the fears, the government continues to defend this restart to reconnect with the some 500,000 students who had dropped out during the confinement. “In a way, we need to reaccustom society to going to school,” summarized the Minister of Education, Jean-Michel Blanquer, on Monday.
A very supervised and calm return
The students returned by adhering to a strict health protocol, including the mandatory wearing of masks.
In middle schools, floor markings are to be scrupulously followed, and students are well-spaced in class.
For Charles Ange Ginésy, President of the Departmental Council: “The services of the Alpes-Maritimes Department and national education have worked together to ensure the proper application of the health protocol. Our primary objective is to guarantee optimal health and safety conditions established by the school.”
