This is the largest drop in unemployment in at least ten years. The number of job seekers registered with Pรดle emploi in category A, meaning without any activity in March, fell by 60,000 people compared to the month of February.
The number of job seekers without any activity stands at 3,531,000, a decrease of 1.7% between February and March.
In Paca and still in category A, the decrease amounts to 2.5%, which is 8,092 fewer people. At the end of March, 321,207 are registered with Pรดle Emploi.
In the Alpes-Maritimes: the number of job seekers required to look for a job, whether or not they had any activity during the month (categories A, B, C) stands at 99,200 at the end of March 2016.
This number decreased by 0.1% over one month (equivalent to โ53 people), increased by 0.2% over three months, and by 5.3% over a year.
The figure is particularly impressive, if not too good to be true. Such a monthly decline even sets a record since… September 2000.
Such an improvement had not been seen for more than five years. After the stagnation recorded in the last quarter of 2015, it supports the idea of a lasting improvement in the employment sector.
