The number of job seekers with no activity decreased by 0.4%, reaching 3.616 million people in the third quarter. Over a year, the decline is even more pronounced: โ2.4%.
It decreased even more in the South-PACA region (-1.3%), and especially in the Alpes-Maritimes (-1.4%). 4,000 fewer people registered as unemployed in our region in the third quarter of 2019.

Regarding job seekers in the Nice metropolitan area, they decreased to 34,500, which is a โ3.6% drop over a year.
In the first half of 2019, the growth in total employment was particularly strong (+166,000), according to an Insee note published in early October.
In the second half, this dynamic is expected to slow down (+98,000) and according to INSEE’s forecasts, the unemployment rate would continue to decrease by around 0.1 point per quarter, dropping from 8.5% in the spring to 8.3% by the end of the year.
