If in April the number of category A job seekers had recorded an increase of 1.7% due to the 3rd lockdown, the number of category A job seekers (without activity) experienced a significant decrease of 3.5% in May, meaning 134,100 fewer registered, bringing the total to 3.729 million, according to figures from the Ministry of Labor published on Friday. The decrease in category A affects all age groups.
The figures confirm other favorable indicators published this week. Notably, the number of hiring declarations for more than one month (excluding temporary work) increased by 36.9% in May, “benefiting from the new easing of lockdown restrictions and favorable calendar effects,” according to Urssaf. This number of hiring declarations for more than one month reached a little over 785,000 this month, an unprecedented level since 2006.
