This is the statistic that comes too late for Franรงois Hollande’s record and is a good omen for the new President of the Republic who has just taken office.
The number of job seekers with no activity (category A) decreased by 36,300 in mainland France in April, according to figures published on Wednesday by Pรดle emploi and the Ministry of Labor.
This indicator now stands at just under 3.472 million, a decrease of 1% in one month.
These encouraging data align with those published on May 18 by Insee, which showed a decline in the unemployment rate in the first quarter (at 9.3% in mainland France, 0.4 points lower than in the last three months of 2016).
In the PACA region, the number of job seekers required to look for work and without activity stands at 323,370. This number decreased by 0.3% over three months (or 1,020 people), by 0.9% in one month, and increased by 0.8% over a year.
