Insee had announced it and the figures have confirmed it. The statistics from the Ministry of Labor are therefore in line with those published by Insee on August 18.

The latter reported a 0.3% drop in unemployment in the third quarter: according to the National Institute of Statistics, the unemployment rate reached 9.6% in mainland France and 9.9% throughout the entire country.

The number of job seekers in category A (without activity) decreased by 0.5% in July 2016 (-19,100).

In total, mainland France accounted for 3,506,600 job seekers not engaged in any activity.

In the Alpes-Maritimes department, however, the figures are on the rise: +460 in July compared to June.

At the end of July 2016, the number of job seekers required to search for a job and without activity (category A) stood at 69,610 people.

An increase of 0.3% over three months (+230 people). It rose by 0.7% over one month and by 0.8% over one year.

After significant decreases at the beginning of 2016, unemployment began to slightly rise again in May (+9,200) and June (+5,400). But despite this rebound, the indicator remains positive in trend since the number of job seekers decreases by 1.2% over one year for category A.

Notably, recent months have been marked by the first statistical effects of the plan for 500,000 additional training sessions for job seekers, announced in January by Franรงois Hollande.
