According to statistics published on Wednesday, February 24, by its services, the number of job seekers without any activity (category A) decreased by 27,900 people in January, in metropolitan France (-0.8% in one month).
At the end of January 2016, in the Alpes-Maritimes, the number of job seekers required to look for a job and without activity (category A) amounted to 70,537.
This number decreased by 0.3% over one month (or -226 people), increased by 0.9% over three months, and by 3.3% over one year.
In the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (Paca), this number decreased by 0.5% over one month, increased by 0.1% over three months, and by 2.8% over one year.
This improvement needs to be verified in the coming months to understand if it is structural or merely the result of statistical contingency.
In any case, more than the month-to-month comparison of results, in this type of analysis, it would be beneficial to consider the trend, which alone can validate the direction of the trajectory in macro-economic terms.
