A slight improvement, but still insufficient to erase the deep effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the economy. The number of category A job seekers registered with Pรดle emploi in France (excluding Mayotte) decreased by 0.4% in the first quarter of the year to stand at 3,800,700, according to figures released Tuesday, April 27, by Dares, the Ministry of Labor’s statistical service. Over one year, this figure has increased by 6.3%.
Including job seekers in categories B and C (who engage in reduced activity for short or long periods), the number of job seekers stands at 6,012,600. It remains stable this quarter and grows by 4.7% over the year, Dares specifies.
The number of unemployed in category A indeed decreased by 0.3% this quarter and increased by 6.8% over one year. The number of people engaged in short-term reduced activity (category B) rose by 0.4% compared to the end of 2020, as did the number of people in long-term reduced activity (category C), which increased by 1%.
