Organized at the initiative of the Conference of University Presidents and by the CNRS since 2014, the departmental final of the “My Thesis in 180 Seconds” competition took place this Tuesday at the Student House where 18 doctoral candidates competed.
A performance worthy of the entrance competition to the Comรฉdie Franรงaise… why, how to be effective, despite preparation workshops, to recite a synthesis of a scientific thesis that requires developing a certain reasoning, explaining it and proving it?
Among the… daredevils, it was Christopher Rovera who won the winner’s trophy. A doctoral candidate at the Mediterranean Center of Molecular Medicine,
his thesis focuses on the characterization of the contractile properties of fibroblasts in the pre-metastatic lymph node niche of melanoma.
Done and delivered in 3 minutes! What talent!
It would be interesting to test who, in the audience, understood something! The jurors, they understand everything by definition.
He will compete in the semi-final in Paris on April 6 and will be accompanied by Sosthene Ibouanga (a doctoral candidate at the Laboratory of Anthropology and Cognitive and Social Psychology, and second prize of the jury).
The final is scheduled in Toulouse in June.
If successful, he might consider embarking on a new career, that of an actor.
Otherwise, he always has his first option, that of a researcher.
