University Handball Championship: The Nice Team Competing for the Title

Nice and its sports halls of Charles Erhmann, Valrose, Staps, and Pasteur will be the venue for an exciting and significant sports competition, the national university championship, which will see 8 men’s and women’s teams compete for the N2 title. The matches will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday for qualifications, and Wednesday afternoon and Thursday for the finals at Charles Erhmann.


handball_universite.jpg The Nice women’s team will play on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. (Valrose hall) against Clermont-Ferrand and on Wednesday at 10 a.m. then at 1:30 p.m. The women’s final will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m., followed by the men’s final at 3:30 p.m. (at Charles Erhmann). The matches will be followed by the awards ceremonies.

Regarding the competition’s record, in 2010, the University of Dijon was victorious. In 2011, it was the women from Nice who won the competition.

The previous year, in 2012, it was the team from Lorraine that won. On the men’s side, it was the Nice team who won last year. In 2011, it was Toulouse, and in 2010, it was Lyon.

Regarding the Nice team, only Manon Le Bihan (OGC Nice – D1) is absent due to an ankle sprain.

The team will include 3 players from OGC Nice (D1): Hélène Falcon (goalkeeper), Estelle Botté (right winger), Marine Desgrolard (right winger), and will also count on the presence of 5 players from Cannes (D2): Aurélie Goubel (left winger), Elvine Granier (pivot), Emmanuelle Daran (right back), Mélanie Nagellen (center back), and Nina Brkljacic (center back).

The group is completed by 3 players from the Antibes club (N3): Wendy Audoin (pivot), Marielle Cammaréri (left winger), and Jennifer Kodjingo (right wing/back). Finally, the group also includes 3 players from Grasse (N3): Jordane Martial (left winger/center back), Morganne Pradeleix (left winger), and Louisa Bourezg (goalkeeper and captain).

In terms of predictions, the Nice women are favorites at home, while on the men’s side, it is the Toulouse team that appears to have the most assets.
