Latest News

Frédérique Vidal, President of the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis, presenting her New Year’s greetings to the authorities for the first time, reflected on the significant events that marked the year 2012 and the projects to come.

The evening opened with a speech from the president who recalled the university’s accomplishments during the previous year. She also highlighted the economic challenges and the prominent role the university plays in the region.

“It’s together that we can move forward.”

For the President, the university must “persevere and continue the efforts made in 2012.” Working together and establishing trust relationships like those with the CNRS or intermunicipal exchanges is crucial. Also working on complementarity and coordination between campuses and for better alignment of research (biotechnology, health, and sustainable development). Finally, among the projects for the current year, Frédérique Vidal aims to promote the professional integration of students and enhance the value of doctorates so that holders can aspire to high-level jobs. Many other projects suggest that the university is well-positioned to reap significant advantages that will make 2013 a success.

The ceremony ended with music performed by musicology students interpreting four songs by Freddie Mercury and Queen. Finally, the university choir brought the evening to a joyful close.
