Nice hosts the French University Karate Championship throughout the weekend at the UFR STAPS sports complex.
This competition, organized jointly by the Regional University Sports Committee of Nice and the Côte d’Azur Karate League, hosts 243 fighters. These 101 female and 142 male students from all over France compete in individual combat and team Kata.
About twenty of them will be selected for the World University Championships in Bar (Montenegro) from June 18 to 22, which promises a high level of competition.
Among them, 19 students (5 young women and 14 young men) will represent the Nice Academy, 5 from the University of Toulon and 14 from the University of Nice.
The awards ceremony will take place this Sunday, after the end of the competition, in late morning or early afternoon.
