Unveiling of the plaque in tribute to Louis Fiori

On Monday, June 3rd at 11 AM, the Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi, will unveil a plaque in tribute to Louis Fiori at the Bornala School, where he was the first principal.

Having passed away on December 23, 2016, Louis Fiori was born in Nice on August 10, 1925. He was a student at the Imperial Park Superior Primary School before being accepted into the competitive exam at the Normal School for Teachers in Nice in 1941.

During World War II, Louis Fiori was part of the resistance within the French Partisans and Snipers (Francs-Tireurs et Partisans Franรงais) in Nice from 1943 to 1945.

After the war, he resumed his profession as a teacher. He was appointed to the boys’ school in the Saint-Philippe district in Nice (1962-1967), became the principal of the school in the Saint-Pierre-d’Arรจne district in Nice (1967-1970), and then of the Bornala School in Nice, where he ended his career in 1981.

A trade union activist, communist activist of the Alpes-Maritimes, municipal councilor of Le Broc, Carros, and Nice, departmental councilor, and regional councilor, Louis Fiori was a man deeply involved in local and regional political life.
