The surrounding wall of the 109 Cultural Center, on the Boulevard Vérany side, has been adorned in honor of International Women’s Rights Day.

In anticipation of the events planned this week for International Women’s Rights Day on March 8, this free expression wall was inaugurated on Monday, March 7 by the deputy mayor in charge of Fighting Discrimination, Women’s Rights, Humanitarian Action, and International Solidarity: Maty Diouf, the deputy mayor in charge of Culture: Robert Roux, and the Territory Deputy: Fatima Khaldi.

The first works on this wall of expression were created on the theme of gender equality by nine artists from the Whole Street collective: Jennifer Miller, Eve Carton, Kyra Wu, Tina de Rubia, Mulia, Annabelle Tattu, César Malfi, Faben, and Romain.

The artists were to represent, in any way they wanted, the theme of gender equality; Tina chose to depict this subject through Yin and Yang. The Yin, represented in black, evokes the feminine principle. The Yang, on the other hand, represents the masculine principle, but together they embody the individual balance of forces.

These free expression walls are an initiative of the city of Nice, which had implemented new measures in favor of young people from Nice, including dedicated spaces for free urban creativity to promote creativity and the appropriation of public space as a dynamic urban art area. The first wall appeared in March 2020 on the basketball court of the AnimaNice Las Planas center, followed by the second in January 2021 on the avenue of the 15th Corps.
