Vendée Globe: A New Sailor for Christmas!

Latest News

The sailors of the Vendée Globe do not take a Christmas break. Even though the atmosphere on board is more relaxed, the race does not stop!

“Christmas alone during the Vendée Globe can be fun too. This morning I repaired my backup pilot so I am really happy! I’m not going very fast at the moment but that doesn’t matter much, I’ll catch up later. Make sure to prepare well for the festivities with your loved ones,” wished Alexia Barrier to the entire community following her exploits on social media.

Instead of desperately trying to catch up with Miranda and Clément ahead of her, it’s time to rest and take care of both body and machine. Enjoy the Christmas festivities in complete isolation aboard TSE-4myplanet, which has donned its festive attire for the occasion.

Fortunately, the conditions are quite pleasant at the moment for the woman from the Maritime Alps, which is not the case for everyone (especially around the south of New Zealand). With winds up to 15 knots and a relatively calm sea, Alexia is continuing her journey in the southernmost race zone near Australia. A waypoint marking almost half of her incredible solo adventure.

But now, it’s time to enjoy the holidays to regain strength and push forward into the approaching Pacific.
