On this very beautiful day, some sailors are beginning to speed up. Arnaud Le Boissières, (La Mie Caline), was the fastest sailor of the day off the coast of Brazil.
Charlie Dalin is still leading this race on his foiling yacht. For now, he is 139 nautical miles ahead of Thomas Ruyant, who is still concerned about the condition of the crack on his port foil.
There are only two competitors left in the northern hemisphere: K.Shimaraichi and J.Beyou. The latter had to return to Les Sables-d’Olonne for repairs at the beginning of the race.
At sunset, Alexia Barrier was gliding happily off the Fernando de Noronha archipelago in Brazil, in the Southeast Trade Winds, at a good average speed of 9.9 knots. The sailor confides to us that, “celebrating her birthday at sea, there’s nothing better. I found lots of gifts to open in a little bag. Besides that, I’m going to make myself a nice asparagus risotto and a chocolate cake with a candle that explodes. I really feel supported. It gives me the morale of a lioness. There won’t be many maneuvers in the next few days; it will mostly be about adjusting the sails. It’s a bit like a straight-line dressage competition. The road is still long; this is not the time to damage the boat.”
The messages and gifts the racer received have filled her heart and given her even more determination to succeed in this great adventure! Our dear Maralpine knows she will have to be careful not to over-rig her IMOCA, to avoid tearing her sails before the end of this race.
There are still 38,900 kilometers left for TSE-4myplanet to complete this solo world tour.
