A collection of Azorean short stories. Sixteen Mediterranean authors combine their talents and generosity to produce a symphony of texts for the benefit of sick children. A partnership between the Lenval Foundation (the children’s hospital in Nice) and the Fanal Association (Federation of Authors and New Book Artisans).

The Story

This one hundred percent Azorean story originates from the meeting of novelist Pierre Brocchi with Corsican authors – Ugo Pandolfi and Petr’Anto Scolca – during Corsicapolar, a book fair on the Island of Beauty. The latter, along with 26 other authors, had already invested in a charitable work after creating and selling a collection (Piccule Fictions) to raise funds for the purchase of hippocamp chairs sold to support the Handi20 association.

The Antibes writer, upon returning to the French Riviera, informs his publisher – Editions Amjèle. Together, they decide, organize, and set their sights on creating a collection of short stories with the initial intention of helping an association or foundation.

It would be the Lenval Foundation, the children’s hospital in Nice. From the first meeting, its directors endorsed the idea.

The chosen theme for the collection was “Nice and its surroundings” in the departmental sense of the term. These stories, through their diversity, highlight a multicolored city and department rich in its particularities.
