Victor Weld, a Nice-based artist who travels well

Latest News

The opening of his exhibition tonight at Columbus Monaco will mark a new milestone for this young and brilliant artist from Nice who has showcased his art from Barcelona to Paris and soon, in the Los Angeles suburb ofโ€ฆ Los Angeles!

Born in 1992 in Nice, Victor Weld is a passionate individual. With a BTS qualification, he juggles small jobs around his other area of interest: vintage cars, the “oldtimers.” A young contemporary artist exploring the world of intuition and emotions, he is drawn to Spanish culture. Thus, itโ€™s Barcelona for him.

The logical next step takes him to Paris, and on September 20, 2014, for the European Heritage Days, he exhibits on Rue de Turenne at Gallery Bensimon. His hands weld, screw, polish, cut, while his mind brings the object to life to elevate it. Each work is unique, timeless, authentic, and offers everyone the chance to own an original piece.

Nice Premium: Tell us about your new exhibition?

This exhibition is important to me. Monaco is a magical city that I am particularly fond of because you can really feel the passion for automobiles here.
Exhibiting in a place like the Columbus Hotel enhances my art and allows it to be known to the general public and all car enthusiasts.

NP: How would you describe your art?

As unique and authentic; indeed, every work is stamped with an indelible mark to confer its serial number and is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Moreover, each piece has its own story…

NP: You are from Nice and exhibiting in Monaco. When will there be an exhibition in your hometown?

Itโ€™s true that I have exhibited several times but never in my city.
To be honest, Nice remains a challenge for me: Paris, Barcelona, Panama City, tomorrow Los Angeles or Turin, I am ready to “face” the criticisms of the people of Nice.

NP: If I say, Barcelona? Paris?

Spanish culture inspired me. A very trendy village, โ€œSitges,โ€ was able to discover pieces created on-site in Barcelona.

And Paris, the artistic capital, is a must-see for contemporary artists. Serge Bensimon, who fell in love with my collection, opened his gallery for me right in the heart of the capital.

NP: What will be your next steps after Monaco?

I am going to exhibit at Laguna Beach, the Saint Paul de Vence of California. Then probably an exhibition at the Museo Nazionale dellโ€™Automobile in Turin, one of the oldest and most important in Europe. But above all, I am looking for a place to exhibit in my hometown, Nice, so that the “nissart” can get to know me.

NP: Finally, you will be a happy artist after this exhibition ifโ€ฆ?

If I gain recognition from my peers and if my works are unanimously appreciated.
