The hope of survival for Nice Volley Ball disappeared on Friday evening despite the victory snatched in the tie-break against AS Cannes (3-2). A hard-fought success that unfortunately only offers two points to Nice, who are officially relegated to Ligue B next year.

As soon as the match ball was over, a mixed feeling took over the Palmeira hall this Friday night.
While smiles and even clapping accompanied the victory against AS Cannes, the Nice club is indeed relegated tonight and will play at the lower level next year.
Even though the mission to stay was going to be very complicated anyway, it was mainly a matter of pride and honor in this derby.
A match that the Nice team started off energetically by winning the first set before experiencing a low point. Trailing 2 sets to 1, the locals drew from the energy of despair to overturn the Canne side who probably thought too soon they were leaving Palmeira with a precious victory for the quarter-finals. They could notably count on a great performance by Jolan Cox (24 points) to secure the win.
A tie-break victory (25-21, 22-25, 18-25, 25-21, 15-13) meaning only 2 points in the standings, which dooms the Nice team as they can no longer catch up to Narbonne with 3 games to go.
