The 8th edition of the Victories of Sport took place last night. At the end of the evening, Vincent Koziello, a soccer player for OGC Nice, Charlotte Bonnet, a swimmer at the Olympic Nice Swimming Club, and Maxime Montaggioni, a parasport athlete, were elected the best sportspeople of the year 2015 in the French Riviera region.

Nice celebrated its champions last night. On the men’s side, it was Vincent Koziello, the new darling of OGC Nice, who was elected for the first time. He follows Jรฉrรดme Ardissone in the standings.

A well-deserved title for the diminutive midfielder, who has had a very good season so far with the Eagles. “This rewards all my efforts, especially since the beginning of the season. I think a lot about all the people who have supported me, particularly the club and the coach for trusting me,” he said at the end of the evening.

For the women, it was swimmer Charlotte Bonnet, very close to the late Camille Muffat, who was crowned for the second consecutive time. She will be one of the serious medal contenders for the French delegation in Rio this year.

As for parasports, it was para snowboarder Maxime Montaggioni who was honored, succeeding Cรฉcile Hernandez-Cervellon.

Nice “land of sport”

The ceremony was also an opportunity to highlight the 391 medalists that the city boasts, including 134 French championship titles, around twenty European medals, and nearly 12 world titles.

Christian Estrosi, deputy mayor of Nice, stated: “We pay tribute tonight to all those who proudly represent Nice throughout France and worldwide! Our city has never reached such a level of performance, and we are grateful to them.”
