Chinaski is currently working on their album at the Iceberg studio in Drap. They have traveled back to Nice, their homeland, to perform in front of Nice Premium’s camera, opening for Louis Bertignac. Chinaski is living proof that quality lyrics can blend with rock sounds. Jean-Louis, the lead singer, tells stories and anecdotes with humor and tenderness. One gets attached to his words. One connects with them. It’s always risky to make comparisons, but there’s a bit of Brassens and Brel in him. Jean-Louis is a true performer. He lives his songs. They speak of male-female relationships, smoky and alcohol-fueled evenings, always with images aptly chosen and mischief in the words. Chinaski has been touring for a while now. They are seasoned performers. There is never a flaw, both in the singing and in the music, with Morgan on keyboards, Sébastien on bass, Antoine on guitar, and Chris on drums. They are a band to listen to at home, paying close attention to the lyrics, and to see live because it’s on stage that one can truly judge a band’s musical sincerity.
