Viviane Sicnasi witnessed the birth of the “Grand Parade du Jazz” in 1974. At that time, she was responsible for communications and press relations for the event. Initially, the “Grand Parade du Jazz” was a tribute to the music of New Orleans, but to continue until 1993, the programming evolved, and different styles then resonated within the Cimiez Arenas.
From 1994, following the Sapin Law (which brought order to political life by regulating party accounts, advertisements, tender offers, etc.), the structure of the “Grande Parade du Jazz” changed. The creators had to give way after a series of political and legal decisions, and the “Grand Parade” was renamed. The “Nice Jazz Festival” was born. This newcomer, therefore, followed the new regulations and regularly changed artistic directors.
In 2001, Vivianne Sicnasi took the reins after securing a three-year bid. After this period, she obtained the authorization to continue for another four years, marking the end of her contract in 2007. For this last year, the producer of the Festival provided a retrospective of its origins and presented the objectives, the program for the first day, and the singers of the 2007 edition.
