As a candidate for the 2016 Citizen Energy Award, among 34 communities, Villeneuve-Loubet is firmly committed to a sustainable and responsible policy through technical management of buildings, better energy management, and awareness-raising among agents and sustainable development referents.


Numerous initiatives and measurable objectives have been implemented to realize this commitment, such as:

The creation of the Buildings and Energy Department in 2014

The renovation of the Font Bertrane building: insulation work to reduce energy consumption, eligible for CEE certificates (roofing, glazing, floors, walls)

Monitoring and managing electricity consumption through GreenPriz: the system consists of programmable and autonomous modules that measure and manage the electricity consumption of devices. This allows for electricity consumption savings of up to 43%, with an average return on investment between 2 and 3 years.

The switch to LED lighting in the most consuming buildings: in 2016, replacement of lighting systems in 4 elementary schools, 4 nursery schools, and 4 daycares

The SDEG Lighting Plan (Departmental Electricity and Gas Syndicate): switch to LED lighting in public spaces, replacement of 671 lanterns and 300 lampposts. Ultimately, 62% annual savings in electricity consumption.

Analysis and monitoring of energy consumption bills for all municipal buildings

The acquisition of electric vehicles for the services: 6 currently, 1 hybrid and 5 planned for 2016. This will bring the number of electric vehicles in the municipal fleet to 18%.

The WATTY program since 2015 in schools: educating children about managing their water and energy consumption through workshops and activities like “Big Sweater” and the delivery of the “eco-WATERnomy” kit
