For a weekend (from July 18 to 20), the birthplace of the great chef Auguste Escoffier once again sets the table, as it has for over 20 years, to celebrate the local hero…
The theme for this year, 2014, is “Spices and Gastronomy”: a promising edition that will delight both young and old alike!!!
For twenty-two years now, the Fêtes Gourmandes have been attracting several thousand visitors each summer to promote gastronomy, local products, and beyond that, a uniquely Villeneuvois way of life.
For twenty-two years as well, the most renowned starred chefs have willingly come to share their secrets in exchange for a hospitality they know to be genuine.
For twenty-two years, the memory of master Auguste Escoffier, a native of the village, has been even more honored.
The gourmet market will offer typical products from our Provençal land as well as high-end gastronomy products: wine, champagne, honey, nougat, fine spices, olive oil, charcuterie, cheeses, gourmet baskets, sweets, and other surprises to delight the taste buds of both young and old. A crafts space will be dedicated to culinary arts: discover the making of culinary items with wood turners.
The Place of Delicacies
In a relaxed atmosphere, several pop-up restaurants will offer a simple, gourmet, and original menu at a very attractive price. Tasting of the Pêche Melba* offered by the Official Festivities Committee, traditional cuisine for on-the-go eating, pastries and sweets, wine bar, lounge area, tasting of coffees from around the world… All this in a festive atmosphere thanks to numerous musical events.
The Chefs’ Space
Many chefs, disciples of Escoffier, will offer culinary demonstrations to pay tribute to Auguste Escoffier throughout the weekend. A grand festive aperitif will be prepared on Sunday in the late afternoon and served by the association Les Toques Brûlées, who will present their original, humorous, and deconstructed creations.
Piazza Forlimpopoli
At the heart of the village, a genuine Italian village will be recreated, dedicated to the friends of Forlimpopoli, our twin town and birthplace of Pellegrino Artusi (gastronome and codifier of Italian cuisine), with the following program: Culinary events organized by the Mariette Association; Market of typical Romagnol products; Dining area offering specialties from Romagna (Pasta, Piadine…)
For the little gourmets
Children will not be forgotten during these 3 days: a space dedicated to them with games, activities around taste and the art of the table, storytelling tastings.
