Vincent Piguet, the cheeky one, arrives in Nice.

You shouldn’t be late on December 15th at the Théâtre de l’eau vive if you want to have the chance to attend the unique show by comedian Vincent Piguet, who will be presenting his “Coquinou” for the first time on a Nice stage. After Lyon, Paris, and Valence, where he is from, and before the Marseille stop, the coquinou comes to meet an audience from the Côte d’Azur already captivated in Cannes and Monaco last year.

coquinou.jpgNice Premium: Vincent, why the coquinou?

Vincent Piguet: No title could reflect or summarize my show because it is based on a surprise effect that catches the spectator off guard. Not being able to say too much, I decided to use a term I often use with my close ones: “Hey, aren’t you a little coquinou?” And this childish side fits well with the main character of my show.

NP: After Lyon, Toulouse, Paris, what brings you to Nice?

VP: I come to swim and eat pissaladières. But since I forgot my swimsuit and I don’t digest onions well, I will surely perform my One Man Show. More seriously, I’ve been asked for a long time to come and perform on the coast, knowing I have a sketch that takes place on the Martinez beach. I’ve already performed in Cannes and Monaco, and my show was very well received. I love this region, and the audience is truly expressive and warm.

NP: A unique evening as a guest, so where, when, and how?

VP: I am indeed doing a showcase, anticipating many other dates in 2011, at the Théâtre de l’eau vive on Wednesday, December 15th at 8:30 PM. A small, cozy 50-seat venue from which laughter will echo all the way to Corsica (depending on the wind).

NP: For you, Nice is…?

VP: The sun, pastis on the terrace, beautiful brunettes on the promenade, Mado in a bikini… The Dolce Vita in French style.

NP: Your usual performances are more in Lyon, Paris, or Chambery. When will there be dates on the Côte d’Azur?

VP: It only depends on you. I prefer performing in the south than in Paris. I am a native of Valence in the Drôme, and consequently, I honed my skills on the Lyon stages. Given the success of my show, I am undertaking a tour that started last month in Toulouse and Paris; January will be devoted to Marseille, and I certainly plan to come make the Nice audience laugh afterward.

NP: Finally, what should we wish you for next December 15th?

VP: 50 people from Nice standing, eyes filled with tears of happiness, chanting my name. Numerous coquinettes tearing my shirt. And having your pier renamed: “THE PROMENADE OF THE COQUINOUS”
