Each November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women highlights a reality still very present throughout our country. For the 2025 edition, the city of Nice is organizing a series of initiatives aimed at informing, preventing, and supporting. The actions extend until December 15th. They highlight the issue of gender-based and sexual violence and also emphasize the importance of the helpline 3919, available continuously.
The awareness campaign begins on a territorial scale. It is based on widespread display. Digital media, the trams, and institutions in the city center broadcast a clear message: informing about 3919 and encouraging contact. This visibility aims to remind people of a tool available to victims and their relatives. The number is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The time of the Orange Days, from November 19th to 26th, will give a strong visual signal. Several locations will be lit in orange. Among them: City Hall, the Bellanda Tower, the Tรชte Carrรฉe, the Phoenix Park, and the Negresco Hotel. The color refers to a future without violence against women and girls.
A public screening is organized on Friday, November 21st, at 6:45 PM at the Pathรฉ Gare du Sud cinema. The evening will start with the screening of the clip Be A Man by Cรฉdric Doumbรฉ, followed by the film Touchรฉes by Alexandra Lamy. A roundtable will conclude the event. It will cover the following theme: โCombat sports: a reclaiming of oneself for women victims of violence.โ Speakers from various backgrounds will participate. The nonprofit, academic, and institutional worlds will be represented.
The city also plans an informational time in the public space. A stand will be set up on Saturday, November 22nd, from 11 AM to 2 PM, on the Promenade du Paillon. The meeting point will be near the orange #ILOVENICE. Municipal services will present their prevention measures. The domestic violence barometer will be accessible. The โAsk for Angelaโ program, implemented with the Communal Center for Social Action, will also be presented.
A choreographic performance will take place on Tuesday, November 25th, at 8 PM at Stockfish. โParle, Vie, Danseโ is presented by the THEA association. It is not recommended for those under 13 years old. It highlights the issue of resilience. A meeting with the audience is scheduled after the performance.
Tous UNiS against violence against women
The city invites residents to participate in these moments. It reminds that fighting violence requires collective commitment. Everyone can help create a safe environment. Every woman should be able to live in safety and dignity.
At the international level, the Tous UNiS campaign accompanies this day. It spans from November 25th to December 10th. These โ16 days of activismโ lead up to Human Rights Day.
The 2025 edition emphasizes a specific issue: digital violence. This phenomenon is growing worldwide. Digital tools are used to perpetrate various forms of violence: stalking, harassment, non-consensual posting of images, hate speech, deepfakes, doxing, or even identity theft. These acts can lead to real-life violence, with lasting consequences.
The campaign outlines several objectives. Governments must address impunity and adapt the law. Technology companies should enhance platform security. Donors are encouraged to support feminist organizations. The public is invited to voice their opinion. Survivors should be supported.
Digital violence affects more women than men. It primarily targets those who hold a visible position in public or online spaces: activists, journalists, elected officials, human rights defenders, young women. The consequences are stronger when other forms of discrimination are present.
The full program of events is accessible through municipal information. The number 3919 remains a central tool. It is aimed at victims and witnesses of violence against women. It provides advice and guidance.
