The jury visited the gardens of the City of Menton yesterday morning to assess whether the city can retain its “4 flowers” label. This jury was notably composed of the President of the Board of Directors of the National Council of Floraled Cities and Villages and its director.
During the formal reception at the Palais Carnolles, Menton’s Deputy Mayor Jean-Claude Guibal made sure to thank all the city’s gardeners who contribute daily to Menton’s slogan, “My city is a garden.” The mayor also expressed his happiness “to introduce Menton to those who are the best judges and to welcome them here.” For him, the city is distinguished on one hand by the quality of the municipal staff and on the other by its population, which respects the work done.
His guest said he was “impressed by the city and its flowers, but also by the quality of the setting and the environment.”
He also gave his opinion on the famous “Menton Lemon,” which is renowned globally and which he received as a gift along with the rest of the jury. Clearly won over by the city of Menton, he declared, “The Menton Lemon is an extraordinary tool for development,” while lamenting the lack of production compared to the demand.
