VivreNice is a think tank led by Dr. Hervé Cael, active in the political field and centrist orientation and engagement. This association is particularly active in the neighborhoods around the Parc Impérial and, in agreement with the neighborhood association presidents of this area, it organized a survey whose title summarizes the content: “Give your opinion on your neighborhood”.
The results were presented at the association’s headquarters.
For its president Hervé Cael, “the initiative does not intend to replace the institutional role of the neighborhood committees; indeed, they are part of its organization, nor does it have any political significance. It is simply an act of participatory democracy that allowed people to express themselves”.
The result of this consultation (the first in 10 years) will be submitted to local authorities based on their competences, and the association intends to remain vigilant to ensure that all this does not end up in the drawers of bureaucrats.
Some numbers to frame the survey: 3,000 questionnaires were distributed between September 1 and October 31. 342 responses were recorded, with the Parc Impérial neighborhood being the best represented with 44% of responses.
As can already be seen, this is not a survey in the statistical sense of the term, but a snapshot that reflects people’s opinions on the issues of their daily lives.
No surprises on the direction resulting from the responses, nor on their hierarchy: Security, parking, cleanliness are always at the top.
Regarding possible proposals, the usual ones were also mentioned: More police and surveillance cameras*, residential parking, controls and sanctions for incivilities.
An additional note: According to those present, two underground parking lots would be possible in the neighborhood: One on the grounds adjacent to the Russian Cathedral of Saint Nicolas and the other on those of Nice LTC through a bold project.
But there, we are already off-topic concerning the VivreNice initiative…
